Modernization of the First Start-up Complex at Kirov СHP-4 is completed

07 April 2014

“Intertechelectro” group of companies has completed works on the first start-up complex under the “Project for Modernization of Kirov CHP-4” (JSC “TGC-5”). Turbogenerator No.2, installed within the scope of work, has successfully passed the reliability run.

The tests involved a 72-hour operation of the power generating unit at rated load followed by mandatory tests under various operating conditions. The reliability and operability of the main equipment and auxiliary systems was verified; no operating irregularities were identified. Based on the test results the power plant committed capacity was certified by the Grid Operator of the Unified Energy System of Russia. The successful completion of the reliability run allows us to acknowledge that the equipment of first start-up complex at Kirov CHP-4 is ready for commercial operation.

Within the scope of modernization works a steam turbine, made by JSC “The Ural Turbine Works” with a turbine generator, the DCS and Automated information and measuring system of commercial energy metering were installed and commissioning operations were performed.

The investment project of IEC-Holding for the Kirov CHP-4 modernization provides for dismantling of three turbine-generator sets with ancillary equipment and their replacement with the relevant modern equipment. The project implementation will help reduce the electrical power shortage in the Kirov power system, and enhance the reliability of power service to consumers.
