Installation of a steam turbine is in progress at Kirov CHP-4

06 May 2013

CJSC “Intertechelectro” continues work on the modification of Kirov CHP-4 (JSC “TGC-5”). The installation of a 65MW steam turbine is in progress.

To date the work, pertaining to installation of the steam turbine generator and the bottom halves of HP and LP cylinders, has been completed. The circulation, district heating and condensate pumps have been put in place. The oil tank has been installed. Remounting of the 6kV and 0,4kV auxiliary switchgear has begun. High voltage tests and measurements of the ТФ-80-2 turbogenerator stator and rotor have been completed. The rotor has been placed into the stator.

When and to the extent the steam turbine maintenance platforms are ready the process pipelines will be installed with the turbine and auxiliary equipment hook-up.

The investment project of IEC-Holding for the Kirov CHP-4 modernization provides for dismantling of three turbine-generator sets with ancillary equipment and their replacement with the relevant modern equipment. The project implementation will help reduce the electrical power shortage in the Kirov power system, and enhance the reliability of power service to consumers. Based on the signed in December 2012 Contract, the scope of work to be performed by “Intertechelectro” includes the installation of a steam turbine, made by JSC “The Ural Turbine Works”, with a turbine generator, made by JSC “Research and Production Association “Elsib”, the installation of automated process control systems and an automated information and measuring system of commercial energy metering, the procurement of requisite auxiliary equipment as well as pre-commissioning and commissioning work. Integrated testing of the modernized plant is scheduled for September 2013.
